Ayatana
Ayatana is translated as "sense base", "sense medium" or "sense sphere". There are six internal/external (organ/object) pairs of sense bases: eye and visible objects, ear and sound, nose and odor, tongue and taste, body and touch, mind and mental objects.
Hot, sweet, sour and salty, they are the four points of the Thai food compass, although the strong and spicy element can be enhanced to more authentic levels.
